Cheryl McFadden, AFCA

Hello, and thank you for visiting my website!

Artist’s Statement

During the late 80’s, I started oil painting by taking art classes with Anne Post, an Edmonton, Alberta artist.  I was a member of the St. Albert painter’s guild and sold paintings at local shows.

Around the mid 90’s, I became intrigued with glass fusing and invested both time and money into setting up a substantial glass studio.  With raising a young family, I found I didn’t have time to continue painting as well.  You can view and purchase some of my fused glass here on my website!

In 2011, I sold my glass studio and took some time to travel, relax and refocus.  During this time, I rediscovered all the beauty in nature which inspired me to want to paint so many years before.

I started painting again with new focus and dedication, taking classes and workshops with accomplished mentors such as Jerry Markham, Doug Swinton, Gabor Svagrik, Dominik Modlinski and Gaye Adams.  I now exclusively choose oil paint as my medium as I love the vibrance, richness and consistency of oil paint.

Living in Kelowna, BC, I am fortunate to spend my winter months snow skiing, and the rest of the time enjoying British Columbia’s beauty with hiking, camping and road trips.  My husband and I both love to travel, which constantly floods me with artistic inspiration!

I am dedicated to becoming a better painter. I have achieved status as an AFCA (Associate) Signature member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Through commitment and hard work, I am going to continue to learn, advance and evolve. This is my journey and I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to live my life-long dream!
